“Ling” referred to big earth dunes before. Chinese used it to stand for imperial tombs. There are two reasons: to describe the size of the tombs and to show the dignity of feudal emperors. In ancient times, the place where the dead buried was called “fen”(grave), while the earth dun was called “mu”(tomb). It was […]

Many westerners don’t understand why Chinese people eat dogs. After some of them have studied Chinese, they realized that the word “dog” is used in many derogatory expressions. Some of those are “a running dog”, “stinky dog droppings” or “like a dog who bites on the strength of its master’s power”. This last one describes […]
In ancient China, chopsticks signified far more than tools that take food to the mouth, they also signified status and rules, “can” and “can’t”. During the Northern Song Dynasty, an official named Tang Su once had dinner with the emperor. He was not well informed in noble table etiquette and so laid down his chopsticks […]

Prebivalci Kunminga so zelo prijazni.
Učitelji so odlični, razumevajoči.
Ko sem prispela, sem znala zelo malo kitajščine.
