Tämä on toinen kertani. Viime vuonnakin olin siellä noin 12 viikkoa. Tällä kertaa tulin 13 viikoksi kesäohjelmaan Kiinaan. Syy, miksi haluan erityisesti tulla tähän kouluun, on yksilötunnit. Pystyin nostamaan taitotasoani ja oppimaan kiinaa nopeammin kuin ryhmätunneilla. Jos minulla on mahdollisuus tulla uudelleen ensi vuonna, teen sen varmasti.
Ensimmäisen viikkoni aikana Keatsissa en uskaltanut lausua sanaakaan kiinaa. Huomasin, että kiinan kielen taitoni parani nopeasti siitä lähtien. Vaikka minulla on monia vaihtoehtoja opiskella Kiinassa, esimerkiksi jotkut muut koulut tarjoavat majoitusta perhemajoituksessa, huomasin, että pystyin uppoutumaan ja keskittymään täysin kiinan kielen oppimiseen Keatsissa asumalla.
Olen todella nauttinut kiinan kielen kurssista Kiinassa Keatsissa ja opettajien ja oppilaiden tapaamisesta täällä. Meillä on todella hauskaa luokassa. Se on todella hieno koulu oppia, jossa on hyvät opetusmenetelmät ja todella hyvä oppikirja, esimerkkejä ja pelejä ja kaikkea.
Olen jatko-opiskelija, joka tekee tohtorin tutkintoa Columbian yliopistossa. Pystyimme todella keskittymään puhumiseen, erityisesti haastattelutyyliseen puhumiseen, ja pystyimme todella parantamaan kiinan kielen luku- ja kirjoitustaitojani, joten kun palaan Columbiaan, voin osallistua virallisille kiinan kielen kursseille. Se on ollut todella hyvä kokemus ja rakastan todella opettajaani.
Se on ollut merkittävää, koska olen tavannut paljon ihmisiä, jotka tapasin ensimmäistä kertaa viime vuonna, kuten minäkin, palatakseni Keatsiin tänä vuonna. Opetus on ollut fantastista. Opettajat valmistavat jokaisen oppitunnin huolellisesti. Mielestäni tämä yksilöopetus on todella loistava tapa parantaa nopeasti kiinan kielen taitoasi ja lisätä itseluottamustasi ja sujuvuuttasi kielen kanssa.
Päivittäinen kuunteleminen ja puhuminen luokkahuoneessa on parantanut kommunikointitaitojani. Kolmen viikon kuluttua uudet sanani ja lauseeni tulivat yhä luonnollisemmiksi ja sujuvammiksi. Nyt olen tottunut ajattelemaan kiinaksi ja ymmärrän paremmin, mitä muut ihmiset sanovat, jotta voin käydä oikeita keskusteluja muiden ihmisten kanssa.
Ensimmäisellä lukukaudellani toisessa koulussa paine oli siellä melko kova, luokkatunnit olivat pitkiä ja läksyt melko tylsiä. Keatsiin tultuani olen huomannut, että minulla on paljon enemmän tilaisuuksia puhua luokkahuoneessa. Kaikki luokkatoverini puhuvat sujuvasti ja rakastavat puhumista ja osallistumista tunnille. Meillä on loistava luokkadynamiikka.
Minulla oli todella upea kokemus koulussa. Opettajat ovat erittäin ystävällisiä. Luokassani harjoittelemme puhumista, kuuntelemista, lukemista ja kirjoittamista. Pelaamme pelejä ja teemme muita hauskoja aktiviteetteja. Teemme retkiä ympäri kaupunkia. Keatsin henkilökunta on ilmiömäistä. Opettajani on yksi parhaista opettajista, joita minulla on koskaan ollut koulukokemukseni aikana. Hän tulee sisään hymy huulilla joka päivä.
