Keats School arranges varies interesting after-class activities every weekend. Last weekend, the Event Planning Team at Keats organized a group dinner, which was to enjoy the most famous food in Kunming, Cross-bridge Rice Noddles. We reserved a table at a highly rated restaurant in the city center and waited for the teachers and students to come.
Around 6pm on July 27, the teachers and the students arrived at the restaurant. Expecting the authentic Yunnan food, the students and the teachers were very excited although it rained a bit that day. One student who live in Suzhou told us that the weather in Kunming is so comfortable compared to the one in Suzhou. Although it is summer now in Kunming, it is never as hot as Wuhan or Beijing. Some students choose to come to Keats especially during the summer in order to enjoy the cool summer in Kunming and avoid the scorching sun in other cities.
The teachers took the students to the restaurant by bus. The table we reserved was on the second floor. Other than the beautiful environment on the second floor, there was also a minority cultural performance. Having tasty Yunnan food while watching the performance show can be a truly enjoyment for the teachers and the students. After we sat down and the teachers recommended some famous Yunnan food, the students started to order their Cross-bridge Rice Noodles according to their preference. While we waited for the noodles to come, one of the teachers introduced the legend of the Cross-bridge Rice Noodles. Some of our students tried the rice noodles before and they expressed that it was a kind of food that they would never tired of.
When the rice noodles finally came, many students found it was rather interesting as they saw all different sizes of plates with different kinds of food. Some students were very confused about how to get the food into their mouth. Now one of Keats teachers started to demonstrate the right process to have the rice noodles. The students followed the teacher step by step to get their rice noodles fully cooked in front of them. Finally, a bowl of attractive Cross-bridge Rice Noodles was done and ready for enjoyment.
The minority performance was also a great plus to the group dinner. Some students expressed that the rice noodles are not only delicious, but also have very special ways to make it. The group dinner ended with great satisfaction and laughs. The Events Planning Team at Keats now has started to prepare for the next activity. Let’s see what we will do next week.
