In order to help the teachers improve their teaching ability, Keats School arranges group ongoing trainings every two weeks although Keats teachers are already experienced and have received professional training before officially starting to teach students. During the trainings, we will introduce new teaching methods that are developed by the Chinese Teaching Research Group at Keats and have been proved to be useful. At the same time, the teachers will share their own teaching experience.

On March 26, the group training started on time on the 16th floor. The teachers who attended the training prepared their teaching syllabus in the past few days for sharing at the training. The group training was led by the academic advisors Jayden, Margie, and Harriet. Each group was assigned with a new topic. Each teacher’s teaching syllabus was checked by the group members. During the whole process, each member can write down the great and creative points reflected from the syllabus that is worth introducing to the other teachers.

Around one and a half hour later, the teachers started to talk about what they have found from other teachers’ syllabi. Ms. Liu Yuanyuan is one of the most experienced teachers at Keats. After reading Ms. Fu’s teaching syllabus carefully, Ms. Liu commented that the best point of Ms. Fu’s syllabus was her thorough and detailed teaching process. The best practice from Ms. Fu was to ask the students to give questions based on the answers. Ms. Liu thought that this kind of practice can better help the students who do not have many questions to think about the sentence structures. Giving out the answers can encourage the students to think about questions. Ms. Zhong from another group recommended Mr. Yu (Jayden)’s teaching syllabus because Jayden incorporated many scene practices. She stated that this kind of practice can better help students use and practice what they have learned.

The last part of the group training was to learn a series of new teaching methods. These new methods were created by Margie, vice president in teaching quality. She has been doing research for teaching methods for many years and many students liked her methods a lot. Details of her methods will be not released publicly in order to protect our intellectual property.
