KEATS TEAM

FENG XUE

Co-founder

Mrs. Xue Feng used to be a doctor at Yunnan Provincial People’s Hospital. She realized that she was so passionate about teaching Chinese language to foreigners. In 2004, she co-founded Keats School with Zier Liu. Over the past decade, she has helped Keats transform into one of the top Mandarin schools in China in terms of teaching quality and operation scale. Mrs. Xue laid solid foundation for Keats teaching methodology. With a 40% rate of returning students, she has successfully helped many students improve their language skills and reach their study and career goals. Mrs. Xue loves Chinese traditional culture, and is good at Chinese calligraphy, Chinese seal cutting, Chinese style writing and Chinese cooking.

Zier Liu

Co-founder

Zier was born and raised in China, and is now settled in the city of Kunming. She spent four years living in America where she completed a Bachelor of Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2004, Zier co-founded the Keats Chinese Language School in Kunming. Being a Chinese language teacher herself, Zier has developed a systematic teaching methodology suited to Westerners of all cultural backgrounds. Her passion for teaching Chinese means she is continually seeking out ways to make acquiring the language easier and more interesting. Not only does she focus on language form, she also helps students understand Chinese culture and Chinese thinking. This is what makes Keats stand out from other Chinese language schools, and has been recognized as such with the many awards her school has received.

Lei Fu

School Director

Fulei was born and raised in Jiangxi province, China. After graduating from university, where she majored in teaching Chinese as a second language and then doing a one year internship in Thailand, she settled in Kunming. She joined the faculty at the Keats School in 2015 as a teacher of Chinese for foreign students. On average each year, she teaches about 70 students of different ages coming from various countries, with different levels of ability in Chinese. In 2017, she took the position as the school’s executive officer, mainly in charge for management, giving guidance to the students to help direct their learning, working with other teachers to improve their teaching ability, and working with the other teachers to develop more practical and effective teaching methods at Keats. Teaching is her passion, and she is looking forward to continuing to work with students learning Chinese at Keats.

Oystein's Story at Keats Biking Life When Studying in China

OVER 7000+ STUDENTS HAVE STUDIED AT KEATS

My first semester that I studied at another school, and the pressure there was pretty high, the classroom hour was long, and the homework was pretty tedious. Since I came to Keats, I found I have a lot more opportunities to speak in the classroom. My classmates all are fluent and love speaking and participating in the class. We have great classroom dynamic.

I have been to Keats School for 4 times now. The reasons for coming back to this school is pretty much that the teachers I did work with were very good teachers. I make it a 5-year plan or even 10-year plan to come back to this school.  All the teachers have methods of looking at what your skills are. They are aware of at what level you are. I think it is worth for everyone.

Since last semester, we started studying Chinese at Keats. It was the best choice we can ever make. It is a really good school. The classes are a lot of fun, you learn a lot, but very interactive, so you talk a lot which means it is not just books and writing. Kunming is a really pleasant city to live, especially if you compare it to other cities in the east. If you like to travel, if you like to study Chinese in a fun way, Keats is the place for you.

The visa application was really straight forward, because Keats School helps us a lot for that. Keats has a big emphasis on conversational practice, so we learn a lot of vocabulary and daily life plan which is very convenient for us to go around town and speak with Chinese people which is the whole point of coming to China.

I really enjoy coming here because it is like kind of a home for me. It is a great great environment to learn Chinese and meet great people from all over the world. Every one here is extremely friendly. Kunming has a really nice climate. It is a very good mix of modern city and also a lot of historic Chinese culture. Probably got the cleanest air in China and possibly the cleanest water too. I invite you to come.
